The language is accessible so it's not an impediment for grasping most of the concepts (which doesn't necessarily mean that anyone without an iota of knowledge about Zen will) but the exhaustive analysis might be too much, even with the beautiful poems Watts included to illustrate each idea - a break from this scholarly study. Only when you have no thing in your mind and no mind in things are you vacant and spiritual, empty and marvelous.Ī detailed book that shows a thorough understanding of Zen. But this is the way it always was, and in the next moment we find ourselves as free to act, speak, and think as ever, yet in a strange and miraculous new world from which “self” and “other,” “mind” and “things” have vanished. For a moment we are paralyzed, because it seems that we have no basis for action, no ground under foot from which to take a jump. In terms of immediate perception, when we look for things there is nothing but mind, and when we look for mind there is nothing but things.

Characters rarely move and when they do it sometimes plays out like a slide show. On the other hand the animation is terrible. It's obvious the creators put a lot of effort into making the animation have a unique feel to it that contributes to Lovecraft's eerie source material. really enjoyed the handmade characters and sets. I give the story 9/10 because they are based off of masterpieces (though I may be biased) As a result of the very, very, VERY limited animation it makes it hard sometimes to follow the story, and for someone who has never read anything by Lovecraft it may not be very enjoyable. So the stories are automatically good, well the source material is atleast. Well since there has yet to have been a review written about this I guess I'll take a shot at it.Īll three of the stories are written by one of the most lauded horror writers of all time, H.P Lovecraft. □ Lee Ahora □ Download Tom Brady: The Inspiring Story of One of Football’s Greatest Quarterbacks (Football Biography Books) (English Edition) de Clayton Geoffreysĭescripción - Learn the Incredible Story of New England Patriot Tom Brady! And that is thanks to, and the intersection of your gorgeous work.” A book can be great, but a book can’t very often be a classic. “This is a book that is going to be around forever and forever. “And I said, it doesn’t make any difference when the book comes out,” Patchett recalled. “Kate, Sophie, I am really glad you two are here,” Patchett said, “and we get to talk about this book.” She added that before The Beatryce Prophecy pubbed, DiCamillo had confessed to her feeling nervous about its reception. “Around here, she is as treasured as the Mississippi River.” “Kate DiCamillo is a Minnesota treasure,” he said. and from as far away as Portugal and South Korea. Some of my favourite articles were an account of Nayar’s conversations with Mountbatten and Radcliffe many years after the Partition happened. There are also parts on the 1965 war between India and Pakistan, and the 1971 Bangladesh war. There is a section on Partition, there are sections on the Indian Prime Ministers Nehru, Shastri and Indira Gandhi, there is a section on the Emergency. This book is a collection of his articles grouped under various themes, chronologically. His protest was praised and admired by Indira Gandhi’s opponents and critics, and 14 years later, when the opposition came up power, he was rewarded for his resistance, when he was appointed as the Indian ambassador to the UK. The next day, the police walked into his house, arrested him and put him in jail, where he remained for a few months. At that time Kuldip Nayar wrote a long letter to her protesting against the restrictions on the freedom of speech and the freedom of the press. I think his peak in terms of fame came after the Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, proclaimed the Emergency in 1975 and proceeded with her authoritarian rule. Kuldip Nayar was one of the famous Indian journalists in the 1960s and ’70s. I stumbled upon this book a few days back, and as I’m reading one nonfiction book after another, I thought I’ll read this. Lie Factor = size of effect show in in graphicĪs Tufte reviews misleading visualizations, he calculates the Lie Factor on each one. His formula to determine the honesty of a graphic is: Tufte spends a lot of time reviewing poor graphics which were printed in major publications. As data visualizers, we have to fight the tendency to put all data available in one graph. This is an important distinction, as adding data to a chart has diminishing returns. Tufte also defines graphical excellence as “that which gives to the viewer the greatest number of ideas in the shortest time with the least ink in the smallest space.” What I find interesting about this definition is the delineation between greatest number of ideas not the greatest number of data points. Tufte states we should “show data variation, not design variation.” Graphical excellence is complex ideas communicated with clarity, precision, and efficiency. Graphical excellence is the well-designed presentation of interesting data. I read this book searching for lessons which are still relevant, as well as some items which might be a bit dated. Written in 1983 (some updates were included in the printing of the second edition was printed in 2001), it is almost always found at the top of any data visualization recommended reading list. Edward Tufte’s The Visual Display of Quantitative Information was one of the first books which provided a comprehensive analysis on how to properly construct data visualizations.
